Companion dog shows (formerly Exemption shows) are great fun, and anyone with a dog is able to enter. Unlike other shows, you don't need to enter in advance, you just turn up on the day and chose your classes. Companion shows are usually split into two parts - firstly
Pedigree Classes
These are for pedigree dogs, but unlike normal shows, the dog doesn't need to be registered with the Kennel Club.
Novelty Classes
Any dog can enter these classes, pedigree whether KC registered or not, rescue dogs and cross breeds. Types of classes vary between shows but often include things such as "Best Rescue", "Waggiest Tail", "Prettiest Bitch", Best 6 legs, longest or shortest tail, and sometimes even "Fancy Dress" etc. The judges come from all levels of showing and enter into the spirit of the day which is all about fun.
Entry fees are usually between £1 and £2 per class, with entry fees going toward a charity, and you can enter as many or as little as you want.
The idea of the website is to try and draw Companion Show information together into one place, helping exhibitors and show organisers alike.
